Free cold call simulator
Pick a buyer, choose what you say at each turn, and see where the call goes. Every call ends in a meeting, a callback or a hang-up, followed by a scorecard on your opener, discovery, objection handling and next step.
A scripted text warm-up: every reply is written in advance and there is no AI. Vonvo's practice calls are voice conversations with AI buyers, scored on an NEPQ-based scorecard.
Call with Priya
Executive assistant to the VP of Operations, 450-person freight and logistics company
Ready to dial
- You sell
- Route-planning software for delivery fleets
- Your goal
- Get Priya to book time with Marcus. A specific time to call back is a fair result.
- The situation
- You're Alex, calling Marcus, the VP of Operations, because his company posted three dispatcher openings this month. His assistant, Priya, answers his line. She screens every call and protects his calendar.
This call has 153 possible paths and ends in a meeting, a callback or a hang-up, depending on what you say.
Text only. No microphone, no AI, nothing to install.
How to use this cold call simulator
Use it as a warm-up before you dial. Four habits make it count.
Say it out loud before you click
Read each option aloud as if the buyer could hear you. If a line feels awkward to say, it will sound awkward on the phone.
Pick what you would really say
The first time through, choose the line closest to your habit, not the one you think is right. The scorecard is only useful if it scores you.
Replay and take another branch
Each call has at least 123 possible paths. Replay it, change one decision, and watch how the buyer's next line changes.
Keep the strong lines, in your own words
The review after each call shows the stronger line for every turn and why it works. Rewrite it so it sounds like you, then add it to your script.
What the scorecard checks
Four areas of a cold call, in the order they usually come up. Each line in the script is rated in advance, so the score shows which kind of line you reach for.
- Opener
- Say who you are, why you called this person, and ask for a short, specific amount of their time.
- Avoid: Fake familiarity, 'How are you today?', or a pitch before they know why you called.
- Discovery
- Ask one open question about how they work today, then follow up on their answer using their words.
- Avoid: Feature lists, yes-or-no questions, and jumping to a demo at the first sign of a problem.
- Objection handling
- Agree with what is fair in the objection, ask what is behind it, and offer a smaller next step.
- Avoid: Arguing, knocking their current choice, denying it is a sales call, or discounting on the spot.
- Next step
- Propose a specific, small step with a day and time, and make it easy to say no.
- Avoid: 'I'll follow up sometime', asking for far more than you have earned, or a contract before a meeting.
What the strong lines have in common
Across all five calls, the lines that score well follow the same few rules.
- They are honest about what the call is. "This is a cold call" beats pretending to follow up on an email nobody read.
- They give a specific reason for calling this person: a job posting, a team that is growing, a message the customer left.
- They ask one question, then use the buyer's own words in the next one.
- They agree with what is fair in an objection before responding to it, and they never knock the buyer's current choice.
- They ask for a small next step with a day and a time, and make it easy to say no.

Questions about the cold call simulator
Is this cold call simulator free?
Yes. It is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and it runs in your browser. Your picks are not saved to an account. Like most websites, this site uses analytics tools, which are described in our privacy policy.
Is this an AI cold call simulator?
No. Each call is a script: every buyer reply is written in advance, and the branch you get depends on which of three lines you pick. There is no AI and no microphone. Vonvo's practice calls are the AI version: voice conversations with AI buyer personas who raise objections, scored on an NEPQ-based scorecard.
How is the call scored?
Every line in the script is rated in advance as strong, okay or weak, worth 100, 60 or 20 points. Each of the four areas (opener, discovery, objection handling and next step) is the average of your picks in that area, and an area the call never reached scores 0. The overall score is the average of the four.
Why did the buyer hang up on me?
Weak lines move the call onto a colder branch, where the buyer is guarded and has less patience. A pushy line at the end of a cold branch ends the call. Replay it and compare: the review after each call shows the stronger line for every turn.
How should I practice cold calling on my own?
Say your opener and your answers to the three objections you hear most out loud until they sound like you, not a script. Record yourself and listen back. Then practice against someone who pushes back, a colleague or an AI buyer, because reading a good line and saying it under pressure are different skills.
Can I practice cold calls out loud for free?
Yes. A Vonvo trial includes 250 free credits, about 25 minutes of voice practice, with no card needed. Cold call drills include gatekeepers and voicemail.
