Cold call calculator: how many dials do you need?
Enter the meetings you want and your own connect and meeting rates, and see the dials and conversations it takes each day. Or flip it, and see what your current dials will book.
Example inputs, replace with yours. They are not benchmarks.
Dials where you reach the person you meant to.
Conversations that end with a booked meeting.
- Dials per day
- 50
- 250 a week
- Conversations per day
- 5
- 25 a week
Rounded up to whole dials and conversations, because you cannot make part of a call.
How the math works
Work backward from the meetings you need. Using the example inputs above:
Meetings to conversations
5 meetings a week at a 20% meeting rate takes 25 conversations (5 ÷ 0.2).
Conversations to dials
25 conversations at a 10% connect rate takes 250 dials (25 ÷ 0.1).
Per day
250 dials over 5 calling days is 50 dials and 5 conversations a day.
Find your own rates
- Connect rate: conversations with the right person, divided by dials. Pull a few recent weeks from your dialer or CRM.
- Meeting rate: meetings booked, divided by those conversations, over the same weeks.
- Calling days: the days you actually block for calls, not the days you work.
Which number to move
More dials scale the result in a straight line, but they cost hours. A better meeting rate lowers the dials you need for the same meetings, which is why openers and objection handling are worth practicing. Try the calculator with your meeting rate a few points higher to see the difference for your own numbers.
Pipeline and quota math
Three quick checks with the same rule: your numbers in, no benchmarks. Example inputs, replace with yours.
Pipeline coverage
Open pipeline value divided by the target it needs to cover.
Coverage: 2.4x
Quota attainment
Closed so far as a share of quota for the period.
Attainment: 75%
Win rate
Deals won as a share of deals decided, won or lost.
Win rate: 30%
Questions about cold call math
How many cold calls should I make a day?
It depends on your own connect rate and meeting rate. Start from the meetings you need each week, divide by your meeting rate to get conversations, divide by your connect rate to get dials, then divide by your calling days. This calculator does that math with your numbers.
What counts as a connect?
A dial where you speak with the person you meant to reach. Voicemails, wrong numbers and gatekeepers who do not put you through are not connects. Pick one definition and keep it, so your rates mean the same thing from week to week.
What is a good connect rate or meeting rate?
This calculator deliberately does not use benchmarks. Rates vary with your market, list quality, time of day and how each team counts them. Your own last few weeks of calls are the most useful starting point, and the goal is to improve on them.
How can I book more meetings without making more dials?
Raise the meeting rate. A clear opener, a specific reason for the call and a calm answer to the first objection all move it, and they are skills you can rehearse. Vonvo lets reps practice cold calls against AI buyers, including gatekeepers and voicemail, and scores every call.
Is this calculator free? Do you store my numbers?
It is free with no signup. The math runs in your browser, and Vonvo doesn’t store your numbers.
Raise the meeting rate, not just the dial count
