Automotive sales training for dealership teams

Car buyers do their research before they call, and many have already settled on a price they think is fair. Practice the conversations that get them into the showroom and through the numbers: internet lead follow-up, the appointment confirmation, the trade-in and the price question.

Built for sales consultants, BDC and internet sales agents, service advisors, sales and BDC managers.

    Practice call: an internet leadExample
    1. AI shopper

I just want your best out-the-door price. I'm getting quotes from three dealers.

    2. You

Makes sense, and I'll get you a real number. Is the trim you looked at the one you want, and are you trading anything in? Both change the figure.

    3. AI shopper

The mid trim. And yes, my current SUV.

    Fictional shopper and call.

    Why dealership conversations are hard

    • Buyers arrive informed

Shoppers have compared listings, read reviews and estimated their trade-in online, so the first call has to add something they cannot look up.

    • Price comes up first

"What's your best price?" often arrives before you know the trim, the trade or how they plan to pay.

    • Appointments that don't show

A lead who agrees to "come by this weekend" without a set time and a reason to keep it often doesn't come.

    • Trade-in expectations

Owners anchor on the highest online estimate, so the appraisal conversation needs care and a clear explanation.

    Scenarios to practice

Example roleplays for this market. Generate similar ones from your company profile, or build them in the scenario builder (Starter and up).

    • The internet price shopper

      Medium

Shopper requesting quotes from several dealers

Answer the price question honestly while getting the details that make a quote real, then set an appointment.

    • Confirming tomorrow's appointment

      Easy

Buyer who booked online and has gone quiet

Confirm the time, the vehicle and who is coming, and give them a reason to keep the appointment.

    • The trade-in gap

      Hard

Owner who expects the top online estimate

Explain an appraisal that comes in below what they hoped, without losing the deal or their trust.

    • Taking it home to decide

      Medium

Buyer who wants to talk it over with their partner

Find out what the partner will ask, and offer a way to include them instead of letting the deal leave the lot.

    • "Is it still available?"

      Easy

Caller asking about one car on your lot

Turn a quick availability question into a set appointment, instead of reading out the price and losing the caller.

    • The missed appointment

      Medium

Lead who did not show up on Saturday

Call back a buyer who missed the visit, find out what changed and rebook without making them feel guilty.

    Conversations to practice

The calls that decide deals in this market, ready to rehearse out loud.

    • Internet lead response

The first call back on a web lead: confirm the vehicle, answer what you can and earn a visit.

    • Appointment setting and confirmation

Book a specific time, confirm the day before and give a reason to show up, such as the car being ready to drive.

    • Phone-ups

Inbound calls asking whether a car is still available, turned into an appointment instead of a quote over the phone.

    • Trade-in conversations

Walk through the appraisal so the number makes sense, and handle the gap with online estimates.

    • Price and payment questions

Out-the-door price, monthly payment and "the other dealer said", answered without quoting rates or terms your finance office has not approved.

    • Service drive conversations

Mention a trade-up option to a service customer when it genuinely fits their situation.

    Questions from dealership teams

Can we practice with our own brands and process?

Yes. Describe your dealership, the brands you sell and your sales process in your company profile so generated scenarios reflect them, or write a scenario around your own phone-up and appointment scripts in the scenario builder on Starter and up.

Is there an automotive cold call script?

No. The script library doesn't include automotive. Dealership calls usually follow up on a lead, so start with the scenarios on this page, or write your own scripts into the scenario builder.

Can BDC agents practice on their phones?

Yes. Vonvo works in mobile browsers, so agents can practice from a phone. There's no native app.

Does Vonvo connect to our CRM?

Not yet. There is no native CRM sync, so practice results and scorecards stay in Vonvo.

Does it cover pricing and finance rules?

No. Advertised prices, financing terms and disclosures are regulated and vary by state, so use the wording your dealership has approved. Vonvo is a practice tool. It doesn't provide compliance training or certification; check scripts with your compliance team.

What does Vonvo cost for a dealership?

Vonvo is priced per workspace, not per seat. Growth ($399/mo) adds team management and a shared team library, with 15,000 credits a month shared across the team. Individual consultants can start on the free trial.
